Our picks for Lake Published: 10/27/2008 12:04 AM District 20 Republican incumbent David B. Stolman is endorsed over Democrat Davita G. Siegel. Stolman brings a huge edge in experience, leadership and accomplishments to his district. He is a county board member since 1992, and has led many countywide initiatives, including transportation and forest preserve improvements. He favors incentives to attract new business, but cites the need to first address roads and affordable housing to foster economic development. He favors the Route 53 extension. News Release Re-elect Stolman for Lake County Board October 16, 2008 Lake County is facing some important issues, namely flood control and road improvements. That is why incumbent Commissioner David B. Stolman of Buffalo Grove should be returned to the Lake County Board 20th District seat. The county needs an experienced negotiator to get things done. The Republican has served three terms on the Lake County Board and also on the Buffalo Grove Village Zoning Board of Appeals and Solid Waste Agency of Lake County. Stolman is a member of the steering committee for transportation for the National Association for Counties, and he is the county's vice chairman for transportation and public works. He has represented the district's interests through transportation projects, including expansion of Deerfield Parkway, increased Metra service and forest preserve protection. is opponent, Davita Siegel of Buffalo Grove, does not have the experience or knowledge of the issues to effectively represent the district. Her message of improved communication with constituents, though, is a good one and something Stolman should embrace. The 20th District includes Buffalo Grove and portions of Long Grove, Prairie View and Wheeling. Concept Plan Proposed for Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve David Stolman (Buffalo Grove), Lake County Forest Preserve Commissioner for District 20, has served on the planning committee for this project for the past six years. "I am proud that so many governmental agencies were able to work together to overcome a variety of obstacles to make this important project happen, which will also include transportation improvements at the congested intersection of Lake-Cook and Arlington Heights Roads", said Stolman. Deerfield Parkway Improvement Plan Dedicated on September 18th, 2006

"Careful and creative design of the new reservoir would create a natural-looking wetland and provide long-lasting flood control benefits for Lake County residents as well as for our neighbors downstream. The natural resources restoration work, additional miles of trails and other public access improvements planned for Buffalo Creek are very extensive.
The transportation improvements will ease congestion and make travel safer and more efficient for Preserve visitors and others who use this busy roadway. I am excited to bring this plan forward today and believe that when complete, Buffalo Creek will emerge as a premier Forest Preserve in southwest Lake County", said Stolman.
